The Clear-Calm of Tea

The ability to experience a high level of focus, concentration and creativity can be catalyzed by the simple act of drinking tea…the right tea.


Teas containing higher concentrations of L-theanine, an amino acid found almost exclusively in tea, have the ability to work in synergy with the caffeine tea to create a condition I refer to as “Clear Calm”. L-theanine in tea has been proven in studies to lower blood pressure and facilitate a calming reaction.


Chinese scholars, writers, poets and artists of long ago knew that tea would put them in a contemplative, creative state of mind. They did not know why, but they knew it was good for their endeavors.


Today we know from research that it is the invaluable presence of the L-theanine in the tea and it’s relationship with the caffeine that creates this marvelous phenomenon for us in our teacup.


Even more amazing for me is that not only is this powerful combination good for focus, concentration and a plethora of more commonly known benefits of tea, but the amino acid L-theanine in tea also creates the savory aroma and flavor that has been come to be known as “Umami”.
